Summary

Four different regions have conceptualized and utilized USDA/NIFA funding in similar and different ways. In this continuation of the earlier panel presentation each regional leader will share real world stories of how their programs have made an impact in reducing the stigma surrounding mental health challenges and share anecdotal evidence of suicide prevention and discuss the complexity of spreading the message of agricultural stress and suicide prevention. These stories will be interspersed with examples of both formal and informal training programs and innovative message dissemination strategies employed in each region. Each region will highlight the programs they offer. Interactive exercises will demonstrate to attendees the multiple ways that each region has implemented these learning opportunities in their region. Finally, the presenters will discuss what they envision for the future of their programs and how each region plans to move the conversation of agricultural stress forward into the coming years. This highly interactive session will provide each attendee with specific tools that they can implement to address mental health challenges, community wellbeing and, suicide mitigation in their own communities.
Attendees at this presentation will learn about agricultural stress in each region from a nuanced perspective of anecdotal evidence. They will have the opportunity to expereince exercises and coping strategies that they can take back to their own communities.
