Summary

AgrAbility for Pennsylvanians provides direct services for farmers with a disability or long-term health condition that is impacting their ability to continue in production agriculture. Our clientele represents an under-served population that can significantly benefit from appropriate risk management education. Through our grant initiative, these at-risk AgrAbility clients are offered farm business planning services, as well as existing educational materials, to support estate and financial planning.

In order to broaden the range of farmers throughout the state that are receiving valuable risk management information, AgrAbility has partnered with two farm business organizations – the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau and the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture – to present workshops related to risk management subjects at their regional and annual producer meetings. Crop insurance and farm family emergency response planning are just two topics that will be presented within the next months to producers throughout the Commonwealth.

Our funding has also provided for the production of public service announcements that are updated and recorded semi-annually and then distributed to radio stations that demographically target the farm audience.
