Summary

Agribusiness Women as Sponsors and Partners in Delivering Marketing Education to Producers.

Several women that are involved in agricultural finance and crop insurance marketing have utilized University of Minnesota Agricultural Risk Management programs to provide value to their customers as program sponsors and by partnering with Regional Extension Educators on the Agricultural Business Team in program design and delivery. These agribusiness women work for or are partners in firms that have sponsored Winning the Game grain marketing sessions and have continued working with the University of Minnesota as active partners in Marketing Groups that provide financial, production, and marketing risk education to staff and customers of the businesses that they represent, which include both male and female participants.

The professional relationships that are being developed between women in agribusiness and their customers of both genders will be highlighted in this breakout session. The value that the University of Minnesota Regional Extension Educators provides in assisting in this process will be discussed. We will explain the sponsorship model used in the Winning the Game sessions, how marketing groups are formed and financed, and most importantly, the benefit to the female agribusiness professionals that are active partners in these groups. Additionally, we will explore how the skills and experiences of these dynamic women are utilized by Regional Educators in engaging and teaching risk management to other women in agribusiness and women involved in production agriculture.
