The presentation will present results from the WERME funding Agritourism Intensive training course. The course provides training on employing agritourism as a risk management strategy on California farms and ranches and minimizing the risks associated with operating an agritourism enterprise. Building on the foundation of established curriculum, this project offered the first statewide virtual/hybrid Agritourism Intensive course. Through six 2-hour Zoom sessions and one regional in-person farm visit/networking event, producers across California increased their understanding of enterprise diversification through agritourism and regulatory compliance, began assessing their business' potential, developing a business plan, increased understanding of the legal and liability risks associated with agritourism, completing a risk assessment checklist and developing a six-month action plan. The presentation will discuss the curriculum, pedagogy, and the pros and cons of virtual trainings.
