Evaluating a Decade of Agricultural Tax Education Outcomes
Since 2015, the University of Minnesota Extension has delivered the Agricultural Tax Issues (ATI) course to support the continuing education needs of tax professionals who serve agricultural clients, including EAs, CPAs, attorneys, and unenrolled preparers. The eight hour course also attracts lenders, farm business management instructors, and other agricultural professionals. Each year’s curriculum is based on the Agricultural Tax Issues text published by the Land Grant University Tax Education Foundation (LGUTEF), ensuring consistent, research based content relevant to current agricultural tax policy and practice.
This presentation will synthesize evaluative data from ATI course offerings between 2015 and 2025, highlighting trends in participant learning, satisfaction, and professional application of course materials. Particular attention will be given to measured impacts from the 2025 program, including reported changes in practitioner confidence, accuracy in handling agricultural tax scenarios, and perceived value of the course for client service and compliance.
Additionally, we will present survey findings on participant preferences for post pandemic program delivery formats. These results offer insight into how hybrid, in person, and virtual approaches influence engagement, accessibility, and learning outcomes for agricultural tax professionals. Combined, these data illustrate the long term educational value of the ATI program and inform future Extension strategies.
