Managing Risk in Agritourism Businesses

Summary
Commercial agriculture is changing in the Catskill Region and in many areas around the country. People who live in nearby metro areas are interested in experiences that farms can provide with respect to buying and consuming local food, experiencing nature-based activities and learning about agriculture. Bringing people to farm operations can add profitable income streams but can also expose those businesses to the 5 areas of risk, A 6-part, virtual educational series gave participants the tools that they needed to develop a comprehensive risk management plan for their agritourism enterprise. This group was well-prepared to manage risk after project completion.
