This session will address how to best identify producers who are underserved by federal crop insurance. It will include data gathering and information demonstrating why these audiences are underserved and difficult to reach. We will access and evaluate RMA’s Summary of Business as a tool in making an analysis of who might be underserved. Additionally, we will use each ERME Region’s regional priorities as examples for developing appropriate programming for underserved producers, i.e., how record keeping training in conjunction with technical assistance and effective collaboration can lead to improved decision making and the ability to apply for and/or utilize crop insurance programs. The session will also integrate grant writing fundamentals that can strengthen applications targeting underserved audiences; especially so that producers can achieve success and with increased confidence to participate in crop insurance programs.
