Leveraging FSA Online Tools to Help Farmers
As farmers across the nation grapple with another year of low commodity prices and high input costs, farm incomes are expected to drop 23% in 2026 according to FAPRI-MU Report #01-25. While the U.S. government has promised some relief via the Farmer Bridge Assistance Program, qualified farmers may not see payments soon enough. Consequently, these payments may arrive too late or will be insufficient to mitigate liquidity issues. For many producers, another option may be needed to cover the looming cash flow shortfall: Farm Service Agency (FSA) loans.
This session will cover technical training on how to use the FSA Loan Assistance Tool to help farmers determine which FSA loan(s) they are eligible for, and how to use the Online Loan Application to streamline the application process. We will demonstrate how to use the Farm Loan Quiz to determine eligibility and walk through setting up a Farmers.gov account to prepare farmers for the FSA Online Loan Application. Educators will leave this session equipped with digital resources to help farmers expand their credit access in 2026.
