Native women are the fastest growing demographic of food producers in Indian Country. Their need to know and understand the complexities of developing legal and regulatory issues unique to Indian Country is critical. Recent changes in food safety regulations highlighted the importance of reaching Native women to give voice to how legal and regulatory issues can adversely affect Tribal food producers in ways that are absolutely unique only in Indian Country due to jurisdictional issues not relevant to any other producing community.
