Risk Management Educators have the task to teach farmers and ranchers about how to manage farm risks. There are always limitations and pitfalls associated with a proposed a project’s methodology. Farmers and ranchers in Puerto Rico have suffered many losses due to state emergencies such as hurricanes, earthquakes, and now due to the pandemic. After these natural events we need to seek farmers’ and ranchers’ needs so they can manage risks associated to future events. Project staff from the Risk Management and Emergency Preparedness in Puerto Rico use a focus group approach to interview farmers, ranchers, and fishermen to gain insight and their feedback about their needs. In addition, focus group was used to gather data to determine the project’s conference main topics. This presentation will present the efficiency of the online focus group methodology and the findings of the focus groups.
