Summary

Due to higher energy use, irrigated producers in western Kansas have been impacted more severely than other producers. The purpose of this research is to provide a normative economic analysis and qualitative discussion of the probable responses of irrigated producers in western Kansas to the increasing energy costs. Additionally, the impact of rising energy prices and producer responses to the Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program will be discussed.
