All too often, "poor communication" is identified as the reason why farm transition planning doesn´t occur, when in reality, poor communication is a symptom of a much deeper problem. We propose to improve the overall ag transition process and address family dynamics by integrating two powerful team building models. Our plan also incorporates coaches into Farm Transition Teams for sustained progress towards family goals. Using the framework of high performing teams with a guided facilitation and coaching process, we anticipate that farm families will resolve the interpersonal issues inherent to farm transition planning.
