Conference Name Growing the Agritourism Industry in New York State Through a Multi-Faceted Approach

Laura Biasillo and Lindsey Pashow

Summary

This session will provide an overview of the resources, support, and technical assistance being provided to agritourism operations in New York State in all areas of risk management. This includes a monthly webinar series and associated fact sheets, in-person networking and tours of agritourism operations, an evaluation checklist for use on the farm, and a statewide website. This project is supported through multiple partnerships at the local and statewide levels, as well as through a variety of grant funds from USDA BRFDP, Cornell University faculty, and Cornell Cooperative Extension Administration. Attendees will learn how and why this support was created and maintained, as well as how it can be replicated in their own region. They will also learn how relationships were created with the statewide tourism entity and how best to engage with their local tourism organizations.
